Name: Morlun
Gender: Male
Place of Birth: Unknown
Morlun
is the creation on Spider-man writing team J.Michael Straczynski and
John Romita Jr. he made his first appearance within the pages of Amazing
Spider-Man #30 volume 2. and is classed as a supernatural being known
as one of "The Ancients" a race of beings who feed on those who are
Totemic beings.
Totemic
beings are classified as those who possess the properties of both man
and beast so Spider-Man fitted the bill nicely and found a place on
Morlun's menu. informed by Ezekiel that due to being a totem Peter's
life was now threatened by Morlun and that there would only be one
outcome. Peter's death.
During
their first encounter Spider-Man is investigating a fire at the wharfs
when Morlun punched initiating physical contact which Morlun taunted
Spider-Man by saying there would be no-where to hide from him now
contact had been made and that he would be the one to kill Spider-Man.
Morlun continues to taunt and battle Spider-Man over the next few days
until after discovering something he could use to his advantage in
Morlun's blood Peter is able to defeat Morlun who is seemingly killed by
his minion.
It
was during the cross over story line The Other that Morlun returned apparently from the dead. Ready to battle Spider-Man again and to finish
what he had started. Tormenting and plaguing Spider-Man with taunts
before the culmination of the showdown in which Morlun beats Spider-Man
almost to death at one point in the battle Morlun removes one of
Spider-Mans eye's and eats it in front of him in an ultimate taunt of
what was to follow.
Peter's
death comes in the hospital after a short re match where Morlun turns
up to devour his life force in peace. a surge of adrenalin helps Peter
to seemingly defeat Morlun again. before his body failing due to his injuries and
dying as a result.
Now
it would seem that Morlun is set to return and even hungrier than
before. As the main villain in the upcoming "Spider-Verse" the first
deaths have been revealed and only Dan Slott would appear to know who
out of the "Every Spider-Man" ever will make it through the third
encounter. The fact that twice before Morlun has appeared to die by
crumbling to dust and yet he is back for a third time indeed makes him
the one of the deadliest foe's Spider-Man has ever encountered.
Thanks for reading.
